Micro-Lens Arrays (MLA)

PowerPhotonic Micro-Lens Arrays (MLAs) are precision-engineered optical components that split, shape, or homogenize laser beams with exceptional uniformity, enabling higher efficiency and repeatability in advanced laser and imaging systems, or fiber coupling.

Micro-Lens Arrays are high-performance freeform optical elements designed to precisely manipulate laser and light fields at a microscopic scale. Manufactured by PowerPhotonic, these MLAs are fabricated using proprietary ultra-precision techniques that allow complex lens geometries to be produced directly in high-purity fused silica.

Unlike conventional replicated or etched MLAs, PowerPhotonic micro-lens arrays can be fully customized in terms of lens shape, pitch, fill factor, and surface profile. This design freedom enables superior control over beam shaping, beam splitting, and homogenization, even for high-power and ultrafast laser applications where durability and optical quality are essential.

Freeform wafer scale optics
What is a Micro-Lens Array (MLA)?

A Micro-Lens Array is a substrate containing a regular array of small lenses, each with its own focal length, used to manipulate and reshape optical beams at a microscopic level.

What are Micro-Lens Arrays used for?

MLAs are used for beam homogenization, light field imaging, wavefront sensing (Shack-Hartmann), display backlighting, fiber coupling arrays, and 3D imaging systems.

What materials are Micro-Lens Arrays fabricated from?

PowerPhotonic MLAs are made solely from Fused Silica.
