Optical Filters

Homogeneous Filters are high-performance optical interference filters whose spectral properties are uniform and constant across the entire clear aperture — meaning every point on the filter has the same transmission and blocking characteristics.

The Optical Filters are manufactured to cover a wide spectral range from ultraviolet (UVA) through visible (VIS) to near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths and include various types such as bandpass filters (allowing a specific band of wavelengths to pass), edge filters (long-wave and short-wave pass), blocking filters (for high out-of-band rejection), multi-bandpass filters (transmitting multiple bands), and beamsplitters. These filters are custom-designed for specific optical applications and provide consistent, predictable performance across the full aperture of the filter.

What types of optical filters are available?

Optical filters include bandpass filters (transmitting a defined wavelength range), longpass and shortpass filters (transmitting above or below a cutoff wavelength), and notch filters (blocking a specific wavelength band).

What parameters define an optical filter's performance?

Key specifications include central wavelength (CWL), bandwidth (FWHM), transmission in the passband, optical density (OD) in the blocking band, and angle of incidence tolerance.

What applications require precision optical filters?

Optical filters are essential in fluorescence microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, laser line clean-up, imaging systems, and any application requiring precise spectral selection or blocking.
