EPIGAP OSA Photonics GmbH was formed in 2023 through the merger of two companies with deep Berlin roots: EPIGAP Optronic GmbH and OSA Opto Light GmbH. Together, the companies trace their semiconductor heritage back to the research group that produced the first LEDs in East Berlin in 1952. The combined entity brings over 50 years of cumulative experience in LED chip and photodiode development and manufacturing, operating from its facility in Berlin.
The product portfolio spans LED chips, SMD LEDs, THT LEDs, photodetectors, point sources, VCSELs, monolithic displays, reticles, and custom Chip-on-Board photonic assemblies, covering wavelengths from 200 nm (UV-C) to 2300 nm (SWIR). Manufacturing is performed in ISO Class 7 clean rooms with fully automated chip bonding, wire bonding, encapsulation, and 100% final optical and electrical measurement. Every delivery lot is traceable back to the source wafer.
Beyond standard catalog items, EPIGAP OSA specializes in custom OEM solutions for medical technology and biophotonics, industrial sensor and automation applications, and safety and security systems. The company handles small and medium production series, combining the agility of a specialized manufacturer with the depth of in-house assembly capabilities.
